Tails of Redemption

Giving offenders & shelter dogs a second chance.

The Cook County Sheriff’s “Tails of Redemption” program provides an opportunity for incarcerated detainees to work with shelter dogs and train them to increase their chances for adoption

“This program will empower detainees to help change the future for these dogs, and hopefully in-turn, they realize that they have the power to change their own future as well,” said Cook County Sheriff, Tom Dart.

Ending the dog meat trade in Asia

Humane Society International has developed a pragmatic, achievable 5-year strategic plan for ending the dog meat industry in South Korea by 2024 —the only country in the world that farms dogs for their flesh—and by extension, hastening the end of the dog meat trade across Asia.

Working in cooperation with their longtime local partners, HSI will win a ban on dog meat farming in South Korea by 2024.
